Tamagoyaki

My mom's tamagoyaki. Hers never has any fish broth but lots of SUGAR! It almost tastes like cake. Great with some soy sauce and shredded daikon!

Egg/Wheat-Free Hamburg Steak!

ツルピカふわふわハンバーグ

I was so proud this tasted pretty good without eggs or panko (wheat), but again, the kids didn't care. :( I've never heard of Japanese kids who don't love hamburg steaks!

The original recipe was from Quality of Life by JUNA, but to make it egg & wheat free, I made these changes:
  • Instead of consommé, I simply used salt to knead the ground beef
  • Instead of an egg, I used Egg Replacer
  • I omitted panko

Heavenly Bamboo

Edible bones

I was feeling bad for days about the salmon loaf I made the other night, and suddenly this morning, I thought of checking the label of the canned salmon that I used. It said, "The fully cooked fish, includes liquid, skin and BONES, which are COMPLETELY EDIBLE, thus retaining important calcium."!!! So I wasn't crazy!

Tasting Kaki

My daughter and I tasted our first kaki of the season from the backyard.

"Quick Char Siu" Don

簡単レシピ♪絶品自家製チャーシュー (Quality of Life by JUNA)でチャーシュー丼

The original recipe asked for pork butt, but I didn't want too much fat this time. My son didn't care at all about this and kept on asking for a peanut butter sandwich during dinner!

Lazy California Rolls

"Make your own California Rolls" meal. Chirashi Sushi with veggies, crab meat, avocado, eggs, ginger, sesame seeds, green onions & seaweed.

Salmon Loaf

This made Pingu very unhappy last night because I made it with bones, and he happened to find a little piece of bone during dinner. I'm probably never going to make this again. I'm so sorry. :( Today, his uncle, aunt and even grandma liked it though.

Steamed Beef

Pingu's 冬菜蒸牛肉餅

Stir-Fried Garlic Lettuce

蒜炒生菜

According to the Cantonese cook book we have, stir-fried iceberg is extremely popular (in Hong Kong), but Pingu had never eaten yet before! I don't even know if I did this right or not, but I decided to take a picture anyway...
